Hardcore Batman comic fans!!!...I need your help? Alright so i just ordered Batman Year One #1- #6 I believe, and I want to read a chain of sequals that tell the batman story all the way up to Batman The Dark Knight Returns? maybe? Idk thats why I got you guys. I read the modern batman comics timeline of wikipedia but I saw in reviews that some of them are actually retold in a sense (I read that Batman Dark victory was a redone version of Long Holloween). I don't have the time to read all batman graphic novels (maybe in the future) but I need a good sequal set of comic/graphic novels too read threw...Feel free to write me a novel explaining to me which ones I should read if you have to I'd really appreciate it.
I'll vote a 5 star best answer...Thanks guys | Batman Begins is loosely based on Year One, but the current movies aren't really based on any comics. Nolan is making his own Batman his own way. If you want to read some cool Batman stories I recommend the current Batman Inc story arch, it's pretty kickass! Also The Long Halloween is a great detective story, and Hush is friggin' amazing! The Dark Knight Returns features Bane, so maybe read Knightfall.
If you really want to read books with a sequel, just get into the current books. Every new issue is a sequel to the last issue lol. | Questions for the really hardcore Buffy/Angel fans.? I'm a huge fan but their are a few things that I wonder about...
1. How old was Riley supposed to be (i don't know why I care but I do) he was a TA so roughly how old does that make him?
2. Are the two comic seasons set in seperate universes or on different timelines? How is Angel in LA and Twilight. (I've only read about 6 of the comics so far)
3. Were the people Angel worked for in 'Why We Fight' the initial formation of The Initiative?
4. In Angel's perfect day fantasy in 'Awakening' who brought him the perfect happiness? He had dream sex with Cordelia but said Buffy's name. (I guess this ones open to interpritation)
6. Are their supposed to be different breeds of Werewolves, as Nina, Varuca and Oz all look different or is it's just bad continuity?
7. Was it ever acknowledged by Joss the souless monster, whether or not Hallie and Cecily were the same person?
8. Xander says in OMWF "respect the cruller and tame the doughnut". What does that mean? Is it a reference to film or something, I just don't understand?
9. Would it be reasonable to believe that Faith and Kendra recieved an allowance or some form of money from being a slayer. How else did they take care of themselves? Faiths motel room etc.
Anything else you think I may not know feel free to share. :) | 1. He was around 21 or 22. He was probably at Honours level to be a TA and he was established at TI so he wouldn't have been younger than 21, I'm assuming.
2. I Don't read em, I hate how twisted/OTT they are.
3. The Demon Research Initiative (established in the 1940s) on Angel is the original name of The Initiative, so yes, it's the same thing.
4. I think it was meant to show the duel-feelings Angel had for both Buffy and Cordelia; maybe in a perfect world he'd have both of them?? If he was just thinking about Buffy then somehow the fantasy would've provided for Buffy to be the one he was sleeping with?
5. There are dozens of breeds of werewolves in Werewolf Lore, so they were probably bitten by different breeds. That's my explanation, at least.
6. Whedon and Kali Rocha both stated they're the same person with different aliases: Hallie, Cecily Adams and Cecily Underwood. In Older and Far Away, season 6, she and Spike (whom she called William) recognize each other but deny being acquainted, remember?
7. It's parodied from a line in the film Magnolia. In Magnolia, Tom Cruise says "Respect the c*ck and tame the c*nt". Nice to know Xander isn't as obscene as that but the imagery of a cruller and a doughnut are still similar to...well, you know. Stupid sexist quote.
8. Faith isn't very moral as we've seen, I'm assuming she gained her money doing sus deeds like stealing, which she's been shown to have done anyway. She often abused her strength, there's no way she wouldn't steal or something for self-preservation. As for Kendra she was all for 'the system'...every Watcher's dream Slayer. Obedient and for the cause. The Council probably had no quelms helping her out financially. They got her to Sunnydale, afterall, they probably paid for her other needs. Not sure, though.
Anything else you need to know? I dunno, Lolly, you tell me? ;) | The hardest wrestling quiz of all time? This quiz is for real wrestling fans. Scratch that. This is for wrestling addicts. No, only the trues of the true wrestling nerds could ever hope to even get half these questions right. I'm pretty sure no one will be able to answer these questions. But, its worth a shot.

Note: I did have to look up questions 7 (I knew one but not the other) and 9 (this was before my time as Battman performed in the 1960's and I was born in 1972) | What subculture stereotype am I? Hipster? Yuppie? Geek? Something else? Extensive information. What subcultural stereotype best applies?
24 year old white male
6', 250 lbs.
Upbringing: Grew up mostly in a small-medium-sized city in southern Missouri. Upper middle-class. Lived in Central America for a few years.
Education: Three years at a state college, pursuing a BA in Religious Studies, double minoring in Philosophy and Political Science. Dropped out for financial reasons (had no parental help).
Career: I have two contracts (self-employed). One as a writer of tech & gaming news on the internet. Second doing market research for an entrepreneur. Together they pay 35-40k. Long term career goal is to become financially stable enough to start my own business related to the visual arts and the online media. Very little interest in having a family, and would rather die than move back to the suburbs.
Current living situation: Live with one roommate in a working class Hispanic immigrant neighborhood near downtown Chicago. Plan to get a studio in a more upscale (but still very urban) neighborhood in January.
Politics: Democrat, but more liberal on social and foreign policy issues. More conservative on economic issues. Radical internationalist and free trader.
Books: "The Stranger" by Albert Camus, "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem, "Big Sur" by Jack Kerouac, "At the Mountains of Madness" by H.P. Lovecraft
Movies: French new wave films (esp. François Truffaut), moody Sci-fi like Blade Runner and Aliens, films of Billy Wilder, Audrey Hepburn movies, films of Wong Kar Wai, films of Werner Herzog. So mostly classics and foreign.
TV: 30 Rock, Mad Men, Weeds.
Music: M.I.A., Asobi Seksu, Common, Philip Glass, Rachid Taha, The Streets, Goldfrapp, Nine Inch Nails
Glasses: Sleek, black-rimmed Emporio Armani wraparounds.
Tops: Button up dress shirts from JC Penney or other department stores mostly -- J Ferrar and Stafford. Dark, solid colors. Usually not tucked in.
Bottoms: Pants are Dockers or St. John's Bay khakis. Sometimes cargo pants, but usually dressy khakis, off-white or dark brown.
Shoes: Black or brown loafers.
Other relevant info: Total technophile. Have an HDTV, PS3, MacBook Pro, and an iPhone. Don't like fancy restaurants; mostly try to go to the cheapest Thai or Chinese food place I can find. Not particularly anti-corporate or into organic, free trade, or vegan anything. I think the website Stuff White People Like is hilarious and familiar but it only 40% applies to me.
I'm in the heart of hardcore geek culture because I write about video games and gadgets for a living, but I feel very disassociated because I've never gotten into comic books and the whole escapist fantasy subculture (ie, Star Wars).
Very snobbish about films but not about music. Love the show Frasier and everything it stands for, but can afford nothing that it stands for (fine wines, opera, etc). Obsessed with politics. Also like some oddball things, like burlesque.
Heroes are Werner Herzog, Steve Jobs, François Truffaut, Albert Camus, and Mikhail Gorbachev. | | yupster - knowing "french new wave films" makes you a hipster. owning an iphone AND a macbook pro makes you a yuppie. now you can brag about your newly confirmed social status to your rich, stuck up liberal friends. ironically speaking, of course. |
